Wednesday Day 14

Whole30 has been so hard with these two because they are ALWAYS hungry and it makes them extremely crabby.  After 900 fits, I decided they need some wheat bread.  I put almond butter on there and raspberry spread sweetened with grape juice.  In the past two days it has made a world of difference.  I didn't want to cave in, but something had to be done.

This was lunch for me (leftovers from dinner).  The kids took a salad.

Dinner was my little sister's creation.  Salsa chicken over a bed of spinach with avocado, olives, tomatoes, cilantro on top.  It was good.  The kids gobbled it up.  Then they proceeded to have whole platefuls of spinach with dressing when the chicken was all gone.  MIRACLES!

Tuesday Day 13

Hamburger Stew for lunch.  Everyone loved!  I forgot to take a picture of breakfast.  It was a non egg breakfast of ground turkey with Italian seasonings, green pepper, and mushrooms with Nannas and a side of fried yellow tater cubes.

Tomato Chicken soup for dinner.  Everyone devoured!  I actually went out to eat to Red Robin.  I ordered a Black Angus Beef Patty wrapped in lettuce with a purple onion, tomato, and mustard.  It was soooo good.  I had a side salad and brought my own ranch dressing and cuties and avocado to put on top.  I also brought a bag of bare apple chips.  Sooooo good!

Monday Day 12 CC's 11th. Birthday!

Birthday Breakfast! This Applegate Sausage is soooo good!

Ham, pineapple, coconut, and walnut lettuce wrap.  Huge hit will all!

CC wanted spaghetti squash for dinner.  She likes it with the sweet potato noodles though.

I know we are not supposed to mimic smoothies on Whole30, but CC needed a dessert.  It's all fruit and coconut milk.  The strawberries and nanners were frozen, so it came out like sherbet ice-cream.

Here's the six cuties!

The Good and the Bad So Far

The Bad:

1.  This way of eating costs lots of money.  I know many people say that our good health is a good investment, but with six kids I'm not sure we could sustain this cost each month.

2.  K and V are about to drive me bonkers with their constant complaining that they are hungry.  They remind me in high pitched voices too.  They want fruit, eggs, and nuts all the time.  Why can't they whine for vegetables?

3. I spend between 3 and 5 hours a day cooking.  I really enjoy cooking, but other household things are not getting done like.....     everything else.

The Good:

1.  I may cook 3 to 5 hours a day, but I do this in the morning and get- that night's dinner cooked, the next day's breakfast and lunch and school snack.  I love that feeling of having it all done and when dinner time roles around, I only have to heat things up.  I love love love it!  Cooking during our family's witching hour was ALWAYS a pleasant experience for me.  :)

2. I love having all the menus made up for snacks, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Sides were included in these also.  I never have to tell the kids I have no idea what we are having for dinner that day.  I also don't have to use any mental power to come up with two snacks a day or sides for dinner.

3.  I always felt guilty giving my kids sugar treats, sugar in their cereal, etc.  I have no guilt now.  I know I am giving them good things and it's doing good things for their bodies.

4.  I love not having to worry about rushing to get something for the four girls and Chris's lunch each morning because I had already prepared it all the day before.

5. I always felt guilty not having vegetables or enough veggies for dinner.  Now, it's a main staple at dinner.

6.  My kids are making comments they would have never made if we didn't do this.  K said, "I want more avocado (never liked it before)."  I said, "After you eat your meat, salad, and sweet taters."  K said, "ok."  She ate all she was supposed to and then got more avocado.   I told the kids at lunch if they ate all of their tuna, they'd get grapes for after lunch.  They all ate their tuna which they never would have done before.  We did call it chicken of the sea.  Kids are saying, "I love Brussels Sprouts, can I have yours?"  "Can I have more carrots?"  They are saying they want (cooked for their birthdays) certain paleo dishes we've cooked before.

7. I feel great inside, knowing I am doing something so good for it!

8.  Chris has been checking out tons of Whole30 blogs.  He has been so happy inside and has been more patient and calm with all the kids and chaos.  He says he loves the food.  He's helped pick up slack where I have dropped the ball because of cooking.  He's 100 percent supportive of this.

9.  I've learned so much about coconut oil, coconut flour, aminos, ghee, lara bars, apple chips,  Applegate Meats.  I feel a bit more confident in putting meals together.

10. I really like cooking when less kids are around.  When the kids are here with me, it's fun to cook with the little kids.  I guess I still like cooking better when no one is around and the house is quiet.

11. I love making veggies so yummy, the kids want more and more.

12. I'm so excited about healthy homemade mayo and ranch dressing.  We love these!

13. I am using my stuff from my garden.  I still tons of onions and squash to go through.

14. I love cooking good healthy food for my family!

15. Chris is eating food he has never tried before and he probably would have never tried.  He loves healthy food.

16. It feels good to be in control of the sugar dragon.

17. The kitchen is all clean when the kids get home from school.  This never never happened before and it added to our after school chaos.

Sunday January 11, Day 11

We had boiled eggs for breakfast and leftovers for lunch.
Sunday Day 11 DINNER:  Southwest Pork Chops with salad and cantaloupe.  Everyone Loved!  Ten chops weren't enough though.

Day 8, Day 9, and Day 10

Thursday Day 8 LUNCH:  Beef Stew made in the crock pot.  The girls took in thermoses that kept the stew warm for lunch.  They loved this.

Snack after school with homemade ranch.

Thursday Day 8 DINNER:  Chili Verde from Every Day Paleo (Pork Roast with potatoes, a sauce with tomatillos, cilantro, jalapeño, and lime juice), sweet taters, avocado slices and spinach salad.  Pretty good with kids.  I think next time I'll put in 1/2 a Jalapeño instead of a whole as it was a bit spicy.

Friday Day 9 BREAKFAST:  Broccoli, bacon, apple salad with fried potatoes, and grapes.  Most like this.  Lunch was leftover stew again.
Friday Day 9 DINNER:  Egg Supreme Pizza Frittata (eggs, olives, green pepper, onion, and Italian Sausage. Pizza sauce (just tomato sauce and garlic powder) and oranges.  All kids liked except C.
Saturday Day 10 BREAKFAST:  Ham and Egg Frittata with Sweet Taters, Grapes.  Most liked.
Saturday Day 10 LUNCH:  Tuna Salad in a lettuce leaf.  All kids liked this!

Saturday Day 10 DINNER:  Chicken Adobo with Coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.  Roasted veggies (brussle sprouts, red peppers, carrots, onions)  Peaches on the side.
